Technical Information: Col Thomas Imler, (301) 427-2084 In response to reductions in program funding for fiscal year 1998 (FY98), the NPOESS Integrated Program Office (IPO) announces the following changes affecting the six Payload Sensor & Algorithm Development contracts awarded in July 1997 under RFP no. F04701-96-R-0012. The program schedule is being re-planned to accommodate the impact of the FY98 funding constraints; the periods of performance for the CMIS, CrIS, OMPS and GPSOS instrument development efforts will be extended by approximately six months, with a corresponding extension in the Preliminary Design Review (PDR) milestone preceding the progressive down-selection for the next phase of the contracts. The current PDR dates are as follows: VIIRS: 13 Apr 00, CMIS: 11 Aug 00, CrIS: 23 Apr 99, OMPS: 22 Jan 99, GPSOS: 2 Oct 98. In addition, funding restrictions have further deferred the initiation of the Space Environmental Sensor (SES) acquisition effort into FY99***** (0357)
