The Bureau of Engraving and Printing is one of the most historic and unique entities in the Washington, D.C. area. The Bureau is also a part of an incomparable tourist area filled with history, variety and fun. The Visitors Center was originally used as a vault when the building was first built. It has an old and classic d cor that needs some improvements and/or updates to enhance the overall center. The objective of this renovation project is to transform the Visitor's Center into a user-friendly environment, while maximizing space and preserving the rich traditional heritage of the center. A complete revamping of the Visitor's Center is necessary to project the Bureau's image and mission as the historic and unique entity that it is. Develop the existing space plan and fabricate the materials, finishes, and accessories. Complete fabricated components for the Visitor's Center should be received by and ready for installation by the Bureau on January 30, 1998. All offers will be evaluated on the following criteria. The evaluation criteria are as follows: Criteria 1 -- Timeliness: Demonstration of contractor's ability to fabricate and make ready equipment for installation at Bureau of Engraving and Printing by January 30, 1997. Criteria 2 -- Past Performance: A statement and discussion of the offeror's experience in previously performing contracts of similar type and complexity, i.e., abbreviated performance schedule. Demonstration of this element should include the firm's overall technical and management experience. Criteria 3 -- Ability to Perform Custom Design: Demonstration of the firm's ability to design exhibitry within the required security consstraints of the Bureau.
