Z -- DESIGN/BUILD FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM, BLDG. 1212, NTC, GREAT LAKES, IL SOL N68950-96-B-0001 DUE 021398 POC JUDITH SOCHOR (847) 688-2600 Ext. 171 SOLICITATION: 1. DESIGN/BUILD. The work includes providing all labor, materials, equipment, transportation and supervision required to complete the engineering design and construction of a fire protection systems, utility connections, and incidental related work. Very limited amounts of asbestos control may be needed for cutting small holes for pipe penetrations and installation of Fire Alarm devices in a few areas of the building. All fire sprinkler and alarm designs will be made in compliance with NFPA Code and current NAVFAC design standards and criteria. The fire protection project shall serve a 50+ year old single story building (Bldg. 1212) with exposed wooden columns, wooden beams, wooden roof deck and exterior masonry walls. Building 1212 is used for computer simulated firearm training, administrative uses, storage and classroom instruction. Total within exterior wall area to be designed for and construction shall be a minimum of 49,536 square feet. The building is 172' wide, 288' long and 18' high at the peak of the roof line. The building construction types and features are to be field verified by the Design/Contractor. Presently, there are no fire sprinkler systems in the building. There is a radio transmitter system for the alarm transmission located in the south office area of the building. The radio transmitter is linked with the Great Lakes Fire Department. 2. This solicitation is unrestricted. The SIC Code is 1711 and the size standard is $7.0M. 3. The estimated cost of the project is between $500,000.00 and $1,000,000.00 4. The performance period is 180 days. 5. An evaluation preference will be given in accordance with DFAR Clause 252.219-7008, "NOTICE OF EVALUATION PREFERENCE FOR SMALL DISADVANTAGED BUSINESS CONCERNS -- CONSTRUCTION ACQUISITION -- TEST PROGRAM (APR 1996)". 6.
