This constitutes modification No. 1 to IFB 98-012 with the only purpose of providing answers to multiple questions made by possible offerors. There are no changes in the specifications. We look forward to receiving your proposal and descriptive literature on Thursday, January 8, 1998, at 3:00 pm Honduran time, on a sealed envelope or packages. All other information publicized in the original solicitation announcements remains unchanged. Questions and answers are as follows: 1. Vaccine refrigerators must be the specified capacity, or may we present higher total capacity (approximate total capacity 3 CU.FT.)? A/= As stated in the IFB advertisement, Vaccine refrigerators must be 40 liters capacity for the refrigerator and 30 liters for freezers. 2. A refrigerator operating on electricity and LPG bottle (liquefied petroleum gas), can it be an acceptable offer? A/= We will not accept refrigerators with different specifications. We requested a kerosine and electric (110V) refrigerator. 3. Were you specifications built on a current existing model sold in Honduras? Please advise the brand name. A/= The specifications were built on existing models that the Ministry of Health of Honduras is using now (Electrolux models). 4. This solicitation calls for "one ea. Electrical heater 110V what are dimensions? Wattage? What type of enclosure? How many BTU's? A/= The specifications under item 1 are very clear, we want a kerosine and electrical refrigerator with two compartments (Freezer with 40 liters of capacity and refrigerator with 30 liters of capacity). 5. Do you have a specific manufacturer in mind on refrigerator/freezer? (Where did Kerosene operation come from? A/= In the past we bought this equipment (electrolux refrigerator) from a local source. Should you need additional information on vaccine refrigerators, please contact the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF and ask for UNICEF's standard E3/RF.2 for vaccine refrigerators to be used in developing countries when kerosine is a source of energy for refrigerators. The Offerors can also find this kind of equipment in the internet under coldchain equipment. What size Glass Flue (capacity)? What size flame spreader? A/= The glass flue capacity and the size of flame spreader depends on the capacity of each refrigerator to maintain the temperature requested in the IFB for each compartment. 7. I assume you need 70 of each (Spare parts kit, one with each refrigerator/freezer please confirm my assumption. A/= The quantity requested is clear in the IFB, 70 units for item 1 and 1,000 sets of spare parts for item No. 2. 8. On line item 4 (Thermometers), Do you need 1 or 1000? A/= We need 1000 units as stated in the IFB. 9. How firm is the weight on the vaccine carrying case? (When Empty) A/= As stated in the IFB, the vaccine carrying case weight is 2.5 Kg when empty. 10. Do you have a preferred manufacturer on any of the materials that are required? A/= No, we do not have a preferred manufacturer on any of the materials that are required, but end items have to meet the requirements specified in the IFB. 11. Do you have any drawings or other literature that you can fax me? A/= WHO and UNICEF publish a yearly catalog with this kind of equipment. Further, you can find more information in the internet under Coldchain equipment. 12. What is exactly what you are looking for? A/= We are looking for a refrigerator that can work with electricity and when the power goes down can work with kerosine and can keep the vaccines under an acceptable temperature. The specifications are very clear for the people that are familiar with this kind of technology. (0357)
