Schedule Contracts for Office & Household Appliances GSA intends to
issue the solicitation on or about 1/15/98 for the following:
Commodity: Office and Household Appliances Acquisition Program: Federal
Supply Schedule, Multiple Awards (MAS) Contract Type: Negotiated,
Fixed-Price, Indefinite Delivery contracts Contract Period: Each
contract period will be for five years,w/1, 5-year option with a target
commencement date of May 1, 1998. The schedule period will be
continuous, and will contain contracts with variable contract periods
that commence on the date of award (DOA) and expire in 5 years
(excluding any options) from DOA. In addition, MAS solicitations will
become "standing" opportunities for new offers. Finally, the government
will award contracts for identical brand name items when offers are
determined to be fair and reasonable to the government. ** The target
date for most awards will be on or before 5/1/98, in order to ensure
continuous contract coverage for the affected appliances as the
existing contracts described above expire, are cancelled or are
terminated. As this occurs, the Federal Supply Schedule will become the
sole means of supply for these items. It will cover the following
appliances, for both domestic use and export: all appliances currently
covered under GSA's Appliances and Services Acquisition Program
(ASAP), which includes certain brand-name refrigerators, freezers,
microwave ovens, clothes washers & dryers, combination appliances,
dishwashers, ranges, and air conditioners (window, wall, ceiling &
portable) drinking water coolers/dispensers ranges (gas & electric),
other than ASAP air conditioners (window, wall, ceiling), other than
ASAP related services and accessories for the above, to include leasing
and installation air purifiers evaporative air coolers circulating and
ceiling fans misc. small appliances, e.g., coffee makers, waffle
irons, toasters Some of the above appliancesare currently managed
through GSA's Special Order Program, whereby GSA's customers (other
Federal agencies), utilizing National Stock Numbers (NSN's), submit
their requisitions to GSA for centralized ordering. These items will
now be managed under the Federal Supply Schedule program, in accordance
with Federal Acquisition Regulation Part 38. Under this program,
Federal agencies order from the Federal Supply Schedule contracts
awarded by GSA, using contractor catalog/price lists. Federal
environmental and energy policies, as outlined in Federal Acquisition
Regulation Part 23, direct all Federal Agencies to consider
energy-efficiency in the procurement of products and services.
Accordingly, firms will be encouraged to include energy efficient
products in their offers. Firms interested in submitting offers must

notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer, which will be
