E-MAIL: NOAA; MASC Acquisition Management, Jacqueline S.
Wright@noaa.gov. The National Institute of Standards and Technology
(NIST) has a requirement for a solid state, single frequency, high
power injection locked tunable laser system. The linewidth must be less
than 300 kHz and the power out into a TEM00 mode must be greater than
500 mW. The single frequency diode laser must also be tunable over 20
nm around a wavelength of 792 nm. It must be possible to lock frequency
of the laser to an external signal, either from an atomic/molecular
line, a high finesse cavity or to another laser. If locked to another
laser, the bandwidth of the laser system must be suitable for a phase
lock. The laser must remain locked for periods of days in a good
laboratory environment (fluctuations in temperature less than or equal
to plus or minus one degree Centigrade). A Ti:sapphire/argon ion laser
is not suitable for the types of experiments (continuous runs for long
periods of time) that are required. Interested sources must submit a
written qualification statement along with literature/specifications
showing the ability to provide this equipment. This must be received by
January 12, 1998. Responses must reference Synopsis No.
NB847000800112JW. There is no formal bid package and no RFQ will be
issued from this solicitation. This announcement/solicitation is being
issued under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures, FAR Part 13 (NTE
$100,000.00). The award decision will be based upon the best value to
the Government, with technical merit and past performance being
significantly more important than price. Terms and Conditions and
agency level protest procedures are referenced at
http"//netsite.esa.doc.gov.oam. Technical questions can be directed to
Jim Bergquist at (303) 497-5459. In the absence of other qualified
sources, it is the intent of the Government to negotiate on a sole
source basis with SDL, Inc., San Jose, CA. (0364) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0120 19980102\58-0006.SOL)
