COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 2,1998 PSA#2003ADD-0N REQUIREMENT TO MDCD CONTRACT-INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY It is the
intention of the US Postal Service to issue a Non-Competitive Request
for Proposal to Lockheed Martin Federal Systems(LMFS)to add a
requirement for the acquisition of hardware, software, and integration
of a system needed to capture and store signatures electronically.
Procurement of this system under the existing contract would enable the
Postal Service to acquire a signature confirmation system that would
form an integral part of the Mobile Data Collection Devices (MDCD)
currently being acquired under contract and would support the Delivery
Confirmation Activities of the US Postal Service. Additional
advantages of this non-competitive procurement include; reduced
lead-time and overhead costs and the utilization of unique software
skills gained by LMFS under the MDCD contract. The estimated cost of
this effort is $7 million. Any questions concerning this announcement
can be addressed to Booker Weaver. E-MAIL: BWeaver3,
