W -- TRUCK LEASE SOL 555-100-98 DUE 011498 POC Steve Ethell, Contracting Officer, (515) 828-5043 This VA Medical Center intends to enter into a long term lease contract for two (2) tractor/trucks capable of safely transporting VA provided 40 ft., 60,000 lb. gross vehicle weight semi-trailer. The tractor/trucks must meet the following minimum specifications: 6x4; 10 speed transmission; minimum 350 horsepower; diesel engine; tandem axles; air conditioned; driver air ride seat; jacobson brake; full air brakes with air dryer, antilock, with heater; power steering; 170 inch wheelbase set-back front axle conventional cab (day cab); 12,000 lb. front axle, 40,000 lb. rear axle; 15 ft. coiled trailer air hose and electrical lines; 60,000 lb. average gross vehicle rating; 190 gal. minimum capacity fuel tanks; 275/8R 22.5 14 ply steel radial highway tread, front, rear and spare tires; back up alarm; 24 inch airslide fifth wheel; AM/FM radio; CB connections to install VA owned CB radio, including mounts; heated rear view mirrors; must include all manufacturers standard equipment; shall not be older than 1996 model year. All taxes, tag fees, mileage charges, maintenance (including oil changes and lubricants, tires and tubes, cold weather protection, exterior washings, roadside repair, and repair parts, etc.) are to be the responsibility of the contractor. Provide a maximum of two-hour response time for road maintenance with back-up tractor/trucks provided. Maintenance service facility must be within a 50 mile radius of Knoxville, Iowa. Contractor must provide all appropriate DOT permits and affix DOT permit numbers to tractor/trucks.
