E-MAIL: Loren M. Kruger, Loren.M.Kruger.1@gsfc.nasa.gov. NASA/GSFC plans to issue Request for Offer (RFO)5-06601-203 on a competitive basis to provide a Thin Film Deposition System. This procurement is for a vacuum system for the sputter deposition of thin films of either single layer or multi-layer composition onto curved substrates, either concave foils or convex glass mandrels. This system will include the vacuum chamber, pumps, valves, and controls to develop a suitable sputtering environment. The sputter gas will be either argon or xenon. The system will also include two planar DC magnetron sputter sources, two DC sputter power supplies, and two thickness monitors. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. This procurement is a total small business set-aside. See Note 1. The SIC Code and Size Standard are 3559 and 500 employees, respectively. The DPAS Rating for this procurement is DO-C9. The provisions and clauses in the RFO and model contract are those in effect through FAC 97-02. All qualified responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. The anticipated release date of the RFO is on or about 1/16/98 with an anticipated offer due date of on or about 2/27/98. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See Internet Note "B". The solicitation and any documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will be in Microsoft Office Suite (Word 6.0, Excel 5.0, PowerPoint 4.0) format and will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
