CORPS OF ENGINEERS" -- "OPENING THE DOOR TO THE U.S. ARMY CORPS OF
ENGINEERS" DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS JANUARY 8, 1998!!!! The U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers, Small Business Office is hosting a Small Business
Conference January 13 & 14, 1998 at the Radisson Plaza Hotel at Mark
Center in Alexandria, Virginia. The conference theme is "Planning for
Success when Doing Business with the Army Corps of Engineers". All
businesses are encouraged to attend, with an emphasis being placed on
Construction, Engineering, Architecture Engineering and Environmental
Remediation. All the U.S. Army Engineer Divisions are also encouraged
to take part in this event. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is the
Nation's premier engineering organization, providing comprehensive
engineering, management and technical support to the Department of
Defense, other agencies, State and local governments. Small business
plays an essential role in assisting the Corps in accomplishing its
mission. Last year the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded
approximately $2.5 billion in direct contracts to small businesses.
This conference brings together small business leaders and key USACE
decision makers, from the top level to commanders in the field where
acquisitions are conducted. It provides a forum for direct exchange of
information and ideas between senior USACE officials and small
business leaders. The Business Opportunity Fair, which is a significant
feature of the conference, will outline future business opportunities
available in buying commands. All Division and District Commanders with
their small business specialists will be available to address
individual questions and concerns. This conference is designed for
"Opening the Door to the Corps" by addressing important challenges and
