Z -- REPAIR EXTERIOR AT U.S. COAST GUARD LONG ISLAND HEAD LIGHTHOUSE, BOSTON, MA SOL DTCGG1-98-Q-3WK071 DUE 022098 POC Susan Hetrick, Contracting Officer, 401-736-1763 Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, supervision, transportation, and equipment as necessary to repair the brick exterior of the historic lighthouse, including repointing of approximately 250 sf of mortar and replacement of approximately 25 sf of brick. All masonry components are historic in nature. The work includes powerwashing, preparing and repainting the brick exterior of the lighthouse, approximately 1600 sf. The iron lantern house, catwalk and support brackets, approximately 800 sf total, shall be sandblasted and repainted by the contractor. All existing paint on metal substrates is lead containing. The contractor shall remove twelve decorative cast iron posts and two levels of safety rails encircling the latern deck, and replace with new items cast to match the originals. the step flashing at the entry house roof, approximately 20 lf, shall be replaced with new copper flashing. Contractor qualifications: The contractor shall have at least five years specialized experience restoring historic metalwork and restoring historic masonry. Qualifications data shall be submitted with the quote. The estimated cost of this project is between $25k and $100k. SIC code is 1799. Solicitation packages to be available ooa January 21, 1998.
