The Government has a requirement for two bottom trawl vessels with
captain and crew to conduct a charter for crab/groundfish surveys and
a charter for shrimp surveys in 1998 with three options to conduct this
survey in 1999, 2000, 2001. Vessel requirements include overall length
of 36.5m (120 ft.), minimum main engine continuous horsepower of 850,
completely rigged for trawling, accommodations for 6 Government
Scientific personnel which may include women, and have sufficient
fueling capacity to conduct operations for at least 4 weeks without
refueling. The Eastern Bering Sea Charters will start and end in Dutch
Harbor, Alaska, and commence on or about June 1, 1998. The Charter to
conduct crab/groundfish surveys will consist of 65 days, with an
option for the Government to extend the contract for up to five (5)
additional charter days each, and the second charter to conduct shrimp
surveys in Pavlov Bay will consist of 70 days with an option to extend
