Bids will be opened on or about 05 March 1998. This solicitation is unrestricted and open to both large and small business participation. The work will include the following: (Approx. quantities) Construction of a two story -- 21,000 SF Fire Station, first floor contains sleeping quarters and locker/restrooms, along with vehicle bay which is to be two story high clear span space, second floor is to be admin office space. Exterior walls to be single wythe "Rock Face" concrete masonry, insulated w/ rigid insulation on the interior face. Clear space structural steel trusses shall support steel purlins metal deck, rigid insulation w/ nailable surface and asphalt shingles. Forced hot water heating system along with unit heaters. Wet pipe sprinkler system and misc electrical. Parking lot and landscaping. The estimated construction cost of this project is between $2,500,000 and 5,000,000. Contractor's Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work 365 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. The plans and specifications are available on Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and will be provided free of charge. It has been determined that the number of Compact Disks be limited to one (1) per firm. Plans and Specifications will not be provided in a printed hard copy format.
