Robert Blasi, rblasi@pica.army.mil. The U.S. Army, Tank-automotive and
Armaments Command (TACOM), Armament Research, Development and
Engineering Center (ARDEC), Advanced Drives and Weapon Stabilization
(ADAWS) Team is soliciting Industry feedback and comments on a proposed
Precision Electric Turret (PET) for delivery to the Close Combat
Armament Center's Multi-Role Aviation Weapon System (MRAWS) program.
Industry is invited to submit white papers (limited to 50 pages or
less) addressing the technical soundness and realism of the
requirements, schedule and approximate budget including backup
analysis, i.e. technical, past program history, current IR&D, etc. The
responses should include a section that presents a revised set of
requirements and schedule which summarizes the results of their
analyses while still delivering a turret in October 2001. The
Government is contemplating the use of two Government-owned,
Government-operated indoor firing ranges for firing and non-firing
testing followed by a set of performance validation tests. Industry is
encouraged to contact these facilities directly and present their
opinions on the appropriateness of the facilities for this effort,
which is preferred and/or suggest alternatives. The first is the Ware
Simulation Center at Rock Island Arsenal, IL (POC: Mr. Jerry Strahl,
email: gstrahl@pica.army.mil) and the second is the Armament Test
Facility at TACOM-ARDEC, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ (POC: Ms. Robin
Gullifer, email: rgullif@pica.army.mil). The ADAWS team also requests
that the respondees use this opportunity to suggest what Government or
Commercial data would be necessary to meet the program objectives and
minimize risk. White papers will be accepted until 17 March 1998 at
1630 hours. Within 10 working days, respondees will be invited to
present a summary (60 minutes or less) of their white papers and PET
candidates to a Government only panel at TACOM-ARDEC during the months
of April and May 1998. It is anticipated that a full PET development
BAA will be released in July 1998 reflecting Industry's comments,
analyses and suggestions. On or about 16 January 1998 a Draft RFQ
containing general information and specific program information
relevant to this acguisition will be made available on the Procnet
Website(http://procnet.pica.army.mil). (0009) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0016 19980113\A-0016.SOL)
