Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is seeking
manufacturers/companies interested in supplying energy efficient
compact refrigerators (9 -- 13 cubic foot) military and other potential
public and private volume purchasers. These refrigerators must be a
minimum of 15% more efficient than the current federal standard for
9-13 cubic foot models (energy consumption rating based on the "Uniform
Test Method for Measuring the Energy Consumption of Electric
Refrigerators and Electric Refrigerators-Freezers", Code of Federal
Regulations, Title 10 Part 430, Subpart B, Appendix A). Other
refrigerator features/specifications must include: a single
free-standing unit, 23 -- 25 inches wide, 24 -- 30 inches deep, and 58
-- 62 inches high with two separate doors for refrigerator and freezer
areas (top-mounted freezer), with three shelves in the door, a minimum
of two adjustable epoxy coated metal shelves and one crisper in the
main compartment, magnetic door gaskets, interior light, door stop,
adjustable temperature control and a zero degree F automatic defrost
freezer. In addition, the refrigerator(s) must have the capability to
integrate with a counter top microwave oven of >800 watts and
incorporate current-limiting circuitry to draw no more than 15 amps
when both the refrigerator and microwave are operating from the same
circuit (i.e., same wall receptacle). The unit shall be manufactured in
compliance with UL 250. The response must include refrigerator
manufacturer information and estimated compact model availability. All
