Douglas R. Clift, (301) 457-1818 WEB: Bureau of the Census web site,
http://www.census.gov. E-MAIL: Point of Contact for registration for
vendor conference, Frances.I.Toole@ccmail.census.gov. The U.S. Bureau
of the Census has been tasked with the opening of between 500-550
remote offices to support data collection operations. There is an
immediate need to open approximately 130 of these offices for early
operations on or about October 1998. The Bureau of the Census is
looking for a contractor to assist the Bureau in establishing the
automation infrastructure of these offices. Automation support will
include, but will not be limited to, the acquisition, installation,
testing, and maintenance of required hardware, software, and
telecommunications; and full systems integration support commencing on
or about June 1998. The Bureau anticipates conducting this acquisition
as a full and open competition. The Bureau also anticipates significant
subcontracting opportunities for small, small disadvantaged, and small
woman-owned firms. Accordingly, small, small disadvantaged, and small
woman-owned firms are encouraged to participate. In addition, in order
for the vendor community to better understand this project, a vendors
conference will be conducted at the Census Bureau. At the conference,
the Government will have available appropriate documentation and answer
questions that may arise about the LCO project. The conference will be
held in the Morris Hansen Auditorium in Federal Building #3 at the
Bureau of the Census. The Bureau of the Census is located at 4700
Silver Hill Road, Suitland, MD 20746. The conference is scheduled for
January 28, 1998 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. For security reasons,
interested vendors must register prior to attending the conference and
are encouraged to arrive not later than 11:30 a.m. the day of the
conference. In order to register for the conference, vendors shall
submit: 1) the name and address of the firm, 2) name, telephone number,
facsimile number, and e-mail address of the firm's designated point of
contact, and 3) the number of attendees. Interested vendors are
requested to register not later than two days prior to the conference.
Registration information shall be submitted to Ms. Frances Toole at:
