award a sole source contract to Computing Devices Canada, Ltd.(CDC),
Ontario, Canada to provide maintenance and field support to the Mission
Management Systems and Direct Fire Sight Systems currently being
manufactured by CDC. An average repair turn around of 14 days is
required. The Mission Management system for the 155mm Automated
Howitzer processes ballistic data and displays it to the gun crew; it
consists of a processor, computer chassis, input/output module,
cabling, displays, and shock mounts. The Direct Fire Sighting System
provides the howitzer with a capability to engage combat vehicle
targets at 1500 meters by night and day with a high hit probability; it
consists of an eyesafe laser range finder, eye-piece, and ballistic
computer. It is anticipated that this will be a 2 year effort. See
