The Air Force eventually intends to establish a multiple year requirements type contract for this unit. The generator set shall be rated at 0.8 power factor and shall supply 120 V 1-phase 2 wire and 120/240 1-phase 3 wire AC voltages at 4000 feet. Low oil warning light with automatic shutdown device shall be provided, (30) Instrumentation: voltmeter, frequency meter, percent-of-load meter (ammeter) and fuel quantity, (31) Electromagnetic interface:suppressed to military standard-461 limits. The following enviornmental requirements are esential and shall be met: (32) Add on systems may be utilized to extend ambient temperature limits to -65 degrees F (-53.9 degrees C) to 140 degrees F (+60.0 degrees C), (33) Protection from 5.2 inches of rain per hour impinging on the set at angles from vertical up to 15 degrees from vertical in all directions, (34) Protection from winds up to 65 MPH and two inches of ice on all exposed surfaces, (35) Protection from blowing sand with velocities up to 65 MPH with particles up to 1000 microns in diameter and concentrations to 2.19 grams per cubic meters and dust with velocities up to 20 MPH with particles up to 1000 microns in diameter and concentrations to 10 +/- 7 grams per cubic meter, (36) Generator must start and operate without winterization within 5 minutes at ambient temperatures from: -25 degrees F (-31.7 degrees C) to +140 degrees F (60.7 degrees C) at all possible humitity levels, (37) Shock and rough handling: 10 MPH railroad impact, 3 foot drop, and vibration stresses during its service use and shipment by land sea and air, (38) Generator must operate level or inclined no more than 8 degrees from level, (39) The generator set shall meet 1997 EPA requirements for non-road engines, (40) The tubular frame configuration shall allow generator set to be lifted by a four person team. The generator set manufacturer shall be the original equipment manufacturing company. The company must have manufactured and supplied diesel engine generator sets to commercial industries with tracable records within the last five years. The generator set must have a proven reliability and should have a mean time between failures of 500 hours or better. The generator set manufacturer must have a proven tracable logistics support system in place for spare/repair parts, maintenance and service.
