COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 14,1998 PSA#2011SMART WEAPONS TRAINING COURSE The Guidance and Control Information
Analysis Center (GACIAC) will conduct a three-day Smart Weapons
Training Course at Redstone Arsenal near Huntsville, Alabama on Tuesday
through Thursday, February 10-12. Army, Air Force, and Navy smart
weapon systems, fielded and under development, will be covered. The
course is sponsored by the AMC Smart Weapons Management Office
(AMC-SWMO) and the Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC), and
taught by the GACIAC contractor, IIT Research Institute. This seminar
provides a single source of information on specific U.S. and foreign
smart weapons, to include their development status, system description,
performance characteristics, and effectiveness. The full gamut of U.S.
smart weapon systems will be covered, to include direct fire, indirect
fire, aviation-launched and ship-launched missiles, rockets,
projectiles, and submunitions. Information will be provided on
technology base efforts and future smart weapon / precision guided
munitions concepts. Selected foreign smart systems will be discussed,
as well as future requirements and opportunities. Digitization, joint
operations / requirements, and future smart weapon trends will also be
addressed. This course will benefit anyone interested in gaining an
understanding of critical weapons-related systems, subsystems,
technologies and battlefield constraints / attributes. The seminar is
