The Naval Air Systems Command intends to issue a contract modification to Contract Number N00019-98-C-0022 for a new Multifunctional Display System for the E-6B Aircraft. The system will integrate E-6 unique Flight Management Computer mission software into a new Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) Flight Management Computer System (FMCS). The FMCS software algorithms which are used to control the autothrottle and digital autopilot for aircraft orbit maneuvers are Boeing proprietary data. Additionally, the system will convert the flight deck avionics to a digital COTS common display system that will possess substantial software growth capabilities to meet current and future FAA/ICAO directives for navigation, communication, and surveillance. The system will minimize life cycle operational and support costs. This modification will be awarded on a sole source basis to Boeing Defense and Space Group, P. O. Box 3999, Seattle, WA, the designer and developer of the 707-variant E-6 aircraft. (0013)
