Acquisition Center -- Washington anticipates the issuance of a Draft
Request for Proposals (DRFP) for the Movement Tracking System (MTS)
acquisition. The purpose of the MTS project is to acquire commercially
available equipment and services to provide a worldwide two-way data
communication and Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) based geo-location
capability between handheld units, mobile units mounted in vehicles,
and computer based control stations which send and receive data as well
as display other users' GPS location. An indefinite-delivery,
indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) type contract is contemplated. Anticipated
release of the Draft RFP is 16 January with a comment response date of
30 January 1998. The Draft RFP will be made available ONLY on the
CECOM Business Opportunity Internet site
(http://acbop.monmouth.army.mil). Click on the link "CECOM BUSINESS
OPPORTUNITIES" and enter "guest" as the User ID and Password to obtain
a listing of RFPs. The MTS Draft RFP files may be found sorted byname
