INFORMATION -- An acquisition is contemplated for the procurement of
the C-5 ISO stand in support of C-5 aircraft Maintenance. This is a
request for information to determine the feasibility of modifying a
commercially available large aircraft maintenance stand such as the
one(s) used to perform maintenance on (i.e. Boeing 747, Airbus 300, or
MD- 10). At this juncture, our intent is to query the commercial
marketplace and evaluate the possibility of utilizing firms which may
feel that such a stand may be modified to meet the needs of the C-5
maintenance sector. Therefore, request that you evaluate the indicate
performance parameters for the C-5 stand and submit if applicable, your

than 12 Feb 98. Require commercial (modified commercial) equivalent for
the C-5 Maintenance Dock Platform, NSN 1730-00- 157-3976. The platform
is designed to provide access to all maintenance areas and inspection
doors about the C-5 aircraft for performing aircraft inspection and
maintenance functions in Air Force hangers and permits movement of all
ground support equipment to and from the aircraft when permits

properly positioned. The equipment consits of 40 platforms; 16
portable step stands (24 inches and 36 inches in height) a towbar used
to tow large stands, four engine pylon ladder/tands and eight deck
pullout tools. The platform system shall exclude only the aircraft tail
section. The platforms must completely surround the aircraft nose,
wings, fuselage, engines and wheel well areas and be designed, as far
as practical, to permit the aircraft to be moved into position in the
maintenance dock with the platforms in place. The stands must be
equipped with electrical and pneumatic services. Electrical services
must provide lights to illuminate all strategic parts of the aircraft
structure and outlets to power hand- held lights, electrical tools,
etc. The pneumatic system is required to provide adjustment of working
levels of the platforms andto provide pneumatic outlets to power
pneumatic tools. The Maintenance Dock Platform must function at indoor
and outdoor working environments of -25 to 125 degrees F at RH up to
100%. The stands must meet all OSHA requirements. The approximate
issue/response date will be 13 JAN 98. First article test required. No
telephone requests. Only written or faxed requests received directly
from the requestor are acceptable. All responsible sources solicited
may submit a bid, proposal, or quotation which shall be considered. See
