william.mallonee@mms.gov. This notice is a combined Synopsis/Request
for Quotation (RFQ) for commercial items prepared in accordance with
the format in Federal Acquisition Regulation Subpart 12.6, as
supplemented with additional information included in this notice. THIS
ANNOUNCEMENT CONSTITUTES THE ONLY SOLICITATION; OFFERS ARE BEING
REQUESTED AND A WRITTEN RFQ WILL NOT BE ISSUED. The solicitation number
is 3901 and is issued as a RFQ. The RFQ and provisions and clauses are
those in effect through FAC 97-02. The SIC is 5045, the small business
size standard is 100 employees. The Department of the Interior,
Minerals Management Service (MMS) requires software to backup two
Auspex NFS File Servers. Software installation will be directly on an
Auspex NFS File Server, and is to be installed and operational no later
than February 28, 1998, at the Gulf of Mexico OCS Region Office, 1201
Elmwood Park Blvd., New Orleans, LA. Purchase will include software,
installation, integration, maintenance, and long term resolution on any
software bugs and upgrades. Installation to consist of up to 40 hours
of software implementation assistance which may be used for onsite
installation, training, and consulting. Integration will consist of the
installation and tuning of the software to work across the Auspex
Storage Processors (SPs) directly attached via SCSI channels to 10
Quantum DLT Tape Drives configured in an ATL 12/352-7000 jukebox unit.
The 10 DLT Tape drives will be connected to a single jukebox robotics
unit configured inside of the ATL 12/352-7000 unit. Maintenance
includes 90-day warranty and 10 months service for a total of 13
months, and includes 4 hours of telephone support, response, patches,
documentation, bug fixes, and major releases. The covered software
includes the Jukebox Manager. The software must provide seismic data
backups (non-compressed) to the DLT Tape Drive at 4.5MB/sec per drive
in native (non-compressed) transfer mode. The software must be able to
backup a total of 81 GB per hour to 5 DLT Drives on each Auspex NFS
File Server. The current architecture contains 3 terabytes of disk
storage, which will expand to 7-10 terabytes. The software must be
certified by Auspex that it will perform under the Auspex operating
system, and be certified to operate with the ATL drivers. All
correspondence must reference RFQ 3901. The following

FAR 52.212-5, Contract Terms and Conditions Required to Implement
Statutes or executive Orders-Commercial Items (Aug 96)with the
following additional FAR clauses: 52.225-3, Buy American Act Supplies;
and FAR 52.232-33 Mandatory Information for Electronic Funds Transfer
Payment. In accordance with FAR 39.106 the software shall be certified
