DAAN02) MODIFICATION OF SYSTEM DESCRIPTION: The U.S. Army Soldier
Systems Command announced a requirement for the MARINE CORPS GLOVE/MITT
SYSTEM in the 29 December 1997 edition of the Commerce Business Daily
(CBD). This requirement is now hereby changed as follows. DELETE: The
palms of both the Glove and mitt shells shall be made of an extremely
durable, grip-enhancing, hydrophobic, lightweight polymeric material
(with higher melting point than Toughtek material) which extends over
the fingertips to the middle knuckle area on the back-hand side.
REPLACE WITH: The palms of both the Glove and mitt shells shall be made
of an extremely durable, grip-enhancing, hydrophobic, lightweight
polymeric material (with higher melting point than Toughtek material).
On the Mutant Mitt (or equivalent) only, this material shall extend
over the fingertips (digits 3, 4, and 5) to the middle knuckle area on
the back-hand side. DELETE: Standard Glove Liners and Modular Mitt
Liners shall stay locked into their outershells during wear and when
quickly doffing the glove without having the Liners pull out with the
hand. REPLACE WITH: Standard Glove Liners and Modular Mitt Liners shall
stay in their outershells during wear, and when quickly doffing the
glove/mitt, without having the Liners pull out with the hand. In the
case of the glove this shall be done through the use of a locking
system such as velcro, or similar. This is a performance requirement;
alternative approaches to ensuring the liners stay in are encouraged.
DELETE: FAR 52.206-6 (from the seventh sentence from the end of the
original announcement). The original solicitation was, and this
amendment is, published to encourage the maximum partipation of
industry in this acquisition, providing for full and open competition
among responsible small business enterprises. As a result of this
amendment, the due date for proposals is hereby extended from 26
January 1998, to 2:00 PM on 09 February 1998. The proposal delivery
address remains the same, at: US Army Soldier Systems Command, Attn:
AMSSC-AD (Winn), Bldg. 1, 3rd Floor, Kansas Street, Natick, MA
01760-5011. Packages containing proposals shall be marked with the
following information: PROPOSAL DAAN02-98-R-2008, TIME SENSATIVE, DUE
2:00 PM 09 FEB 98, POC MICHAEL A WINN (508) 233 4125. Questions shall
