41 -- RETROFITS SOLE SOURCE SOL 1 PI-Q-0037-98 DUE 020398 POC Marla Pope, Contracting Officer, (202) 305-7312 Federal Prison Industries intends to award a sole source contract to SES International 425 Beaverbrook Rd. Bldg. 8 Lincoln Park, NJ for retrofits of environmental chambers which are compatible to existing SES chamber Model numbers RK-10C(SES-2), MT-512(SES-8), RK-10S(SES-5&6) and TAH-20 (SES-4) manufactured by SES utilized for the use of non-destructive CFC, non-ozone depleting refrigerants to meet EPA standards. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for a commercial item prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number is 1 PI-Q-0037-98. The solicitation document and incorporated clauses and provisions are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-02. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate on an other thanfull and open competitive basis pursuant to FAR 6.301-1 with SES since they are the only known source which can provide retrofits which will interface and meet the compatibility of existing SES chambers. For SES model RK-10C(SES-2) installation of a new refrigeration system which will be air cooled cascade type comprising of two 1 hermetic h.p. compressors designed to utilize non-ozone depleting non CFC refrigerants R404A and R23 to include new condenser assembly, cascade condenser flat plate design with brackets, oil separator, valve solenoid, capillary tubes and dries. For SES Model RK-10S (SES-5&6) will comprise one hermetic 1 h.p. hermetic single stage compressor designed to utilize non-ozone depleting non CFC refrigerants R404A which shall include condenser assembly air cooled with motor and fan, valve solenoid, capillary tubes and driers. For SES model MT-512 (SES-8) will comprise two large 7 h.p. semi-hermetic compressors designed to utilize non-ozone depleting, non CFC refrigerants R404A and R23 to include water cooled condensing unit, cascade condenser, plate design with insulated mounting box, new thermal expansion valve, liquid injection type, oil separator, desuperheater with brackets for flat plate design, driers, valve pressure regulator for hot gas bypass, suction accumulator and switch for oil pressure to compressor. For SES Model TAH-20 (SES-4) will comprise two water cooled cascade type 7 h.p. semi-hermetic compressors designed to utilize non-ozone depleting non CFC refrigerants R404A and R-23 to include condenser unit with plate design, thermal expansion valve, liquid injection, thermal expansion valve for R-23 and thermal expansion valve for R404A. A new oil separator, desuperheater with bracket flat plate design, driers, valve pressure regulator for hot gas bypass, suction accumulators, thermal expansion valves and valve The award will result in a firm fixed price definite delivery type contract.
