COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 20,1998 PSA#2014EXECUTIVE PROGRAM MANAGERS COURSE (EPMC) (PMT 303) DEFENSE SYSTEMS
MANAGEMENT COLLEGE, FORT BELVOIR, VIRGINIA, APRIL 20 -- MAY 15, 1998
Openings are now available for Industry Program/Project Manager
attendance to the 4-week EPMC at the Defense Systems Management
College, tuition free for eligible candidates. This notice is for
potential students currently employed in the defense or aerospace
business. The Executive Program Managers Course (EPMC) is specifically
designed to meet the learning and performance needs of newly selected
Program Executive Officers (PEO), Deputy PEOs and Acquisition Category
(ACAT) I&II Program Managers/Deputy Program Managers. Building on the
general program management competencies acquired during the previously
attended Program Management Course (PMC) or Advanced Program
Management Course (APMC), and subsequent on-the-job experience, EPMC
provides the selected participants an opportunity to enhance their
skills through a concentrated four week period preceded by
approximately 60 days of advance, part-time work wherein they assess:
(a) the status of their assigned programs and program office; (b)
personal strengths and weaknesses in relation to problems, issues and
concerns of their programs; and (c) impacts which may result from
recent policy changes in system acquisition. All Department of Defense
PEO's, Deputy PEOs, ACAT I&II PM's and Deputy PMs are required to
attend this course prior to assuming a new assignment to one of these
positions. Industry managers have this unique opportunity to sit in the
classroom with their government peers and relate industry views as well
as learn "how the government does it". Interested candidates please
contact Ms. Ruth Franklin/CODSIA registrar at (202) 371-8414 or the
Industry Chair at the College, Mr. George Krikorian at (703) 805-2828.
