Tank, Fuel, Engine. There is no mold available from the U.S.
Government or previous manufacturers. Forming molds for the fuel tank
used by previous manufacturers have been lost or destroyed. The
Government recognizes that the design is old and that new production
processes and materials could lower the unit cost and improve tank
performance. Critical design characteristics are the exterior
dimensions of the tank, the location and thread size of the drain hole,
and the location and thread size of the fuel take out head. It is
desirable that the fuel filler cap interface dimensions be retained.
The Government will consider bids with alternative designs that meet
the constraints listed above, and meet the tank performance
requirements when installed in the end item as described and implied by
the Technical Data Package. This requirement is suitable for
competitive acquisition. The Government has unlimited rights to the
technical data, and the data package is complete. Technical Data
Package List (TDPL), Government furnished drawings and Procurement
History will be furnished upon request. This acquisition is subject to
Availability of Funds, Firms that can recognize and can produce the
required item described above are encouraged to identify themselves to
the Contracting Officer, and provide supporting evidence which will
permit their participation in the current or future requirements.
