Department of Energy is issuing a Request for Proposal No. 3526 to industry to select qualified sources who will contract for the purchase of and removal of scrap metal located at the East Tennessee Technology Park (ETTP), formerly the Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant and the K-25 Site. A recent estimate indicates that the ETTP site has accumulated at the K-770 scrap yard approximately 40,000 tons of scrap metal, materials, equipment and machinery for recycle. A portion of the inventory of scrap metal, materials, equipment and machinery is radioactively contaminated. The Purchaser will take title to all scrap metals, materials, equipment and machinery and will be responsible for the removal of all recyclable metals, materials, equipment, machinery, and process waste and the volume reduction of non-recyclable metals, materials, equipment and machinery not removed.
