325-1200 The Defense Special Weapons Agency (DSWA) has a requirement
entitled, "Computational Weapon-Target Interaction." The objective of
this effort is to use "first principle" computer codes such as finite
element and finite difference codes to predict the environments in and
the response of and damage to high value fixed targets attacked by
conventional weapons such as precision guided munitions. The damage
being investigated also includes the response of equipment contained
within the structure. The objective of this action is to provide
calculational support to DSWA and DSWA sponsored experiments and tests
at all scales. These calculations will be used to enhance the data
obtained from the tests by proper gauge ranging and predicting test
phenomena for proper instrumentation selection and placement.
Calculations will be performed as post-test analyses to provide insight
into unexpected observed phenomena. The calculations will also be used
as "virtual" test data to develop multi-dimensional response surfaces
to be incorporated into fast-running computer codes such as the DSWA
developed IMEA which is being created under the ACTD. A final objective
of this effort will be to conduct further development of these
structural codes to enhance their ability to predict the post-failure
behavior of structures subjected to conventional weapons environments.
This effort will be competed on a full-and-open competition basis and
DSWA anticipates award of multiple Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite
Quantity (IDIQ) Task Order contracts. A SECRET security clearance is
required. For further information contact Michael Richman at (703)
325-6671. Information on DSWA solicitations, already released, can be
obtained by calling the DSWA Hotline at (703) 325-1173. Acquisition
Management has added "Procurement Opportunities" to the DSWA Home Page
available on the World Wide Web. Information will include this
synopsis and more. Please check us out at www.dswa.mil Reference
