COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 23,1998 PSA#2017COOPERATIVE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENTS (CRADAS) The United
States Department of the Navy is announcing the availability of dual
use technology which may be licensed for commercial purposes. The Navy
will form Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs)
with industry. The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division
(NSWCDD) has developed the means to present almost any application
front end on any JAVA enabled machine while re-using the same client
software each time. Since the client software is re-used regardless of
the application front end -- development costs, time to market and
configuration management are all reduced. The patent pending product,
called the Universal Client, understands a scripting command language
called, GUIScript. GUIScripting application front ends not only allows
developers to provide access to their applications through any JAVA
supported platform -- but developers can additionally embed training
and web page navigation for context sensitive information retrieval.
The Universal Client supports push technology and allows users to
access and manipulate data which changes in real time. Additional
information and an interactive online demonstration is available on the
