On behalf of the USIA International Broadcasting Bureau, the Office of Contracts intends to award a contract modification to the imcumbent contractor, Sayed Hamid Behbehani & Sons Co., to expand the shortwave radio relay station being constructed on the island of Tinian in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. The Contractor will be required to integrate and install three additional Government-furnished transmitters and related equipment; design, fabricate and install up to two high/low pairs of curtain antennas with associated transmission line; expand existing facilities to support the additional transmitters; conduct unexploded ordnance surveys and other site investingations; satisfy local and Federal requirements in connection with environmental protection and historic preservation; and perform much of the expansion work in an operational broadcast environment.
