T -- BOOK WHOLESALER/BROKER SOL IA2504-S8234775 -- Z TEAM DUE 022498 POC Elliott Gilmore, Tel.: (202) 205-8413, Fax.: (202) 205-5466 The US Information Agency's Bureau of Information, Geographic Liaison office, American Republics, intends to enter into a sole-source procurement, in accordance with FAR Subpart 6.302-1, (Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirement) using negotiated, commercial services procedures (FAR Part 12), for Book Wholesaler/Broker services with the Mexican firm of Books, Information and Services (BIS). BIS is located in Mexico City, Mexico and has been associated with the USIA Book Program for Latin America since 1986. It has consistently provided Book Wholesale services in support of the Agency's Spanish language, book translation program such as: Upon request by USIA, the Contractor must identify, catalogue, and produce bibliographies of recent books in Spanish by U.S. authors on subjects related to U.S. policy objectives; The Contractor must also subcontract with Latin American translators, editors and publishers to translate books not yet in Spanish for distribution to USIS posts in Latin America, or USIA in Washington, D.C. BIS has a bilingual staff, agents throughout Latin America, and rents office space at the U.S. Embassy Annex building in Mexico City. Mexico City is a major Spanish language publishing center, and is also easily accessible by air from Washington, DC, facilitating USIA in-person consultations. If any other Book Wholesaler, based in Mexico, can provide these services, please contact the Contracting Officer stated in this synopsis within fifteen (15) calendar days from the posting date of this notice.
