contractor capable of supplying all labor supervision, materials, tools
and equipment necessary to asphalt approximately eight (8) areas that
total 28,000 square feet with approximately 300 linear feet of new
curbing installed 6-inches above and l'-0 below new asphalt surfaces .
Selective areas will also include the removal of existing asphalt and
base material and replacing it with new material. The tentative date
for release of a solicitation package is February 20, l998, with a site
inspection tentatively scheduled for March l2, l998. All work shall be
completed by May 29, l998. The estimated range for this project is
$25,000. to $l00,000. All requests for the solicitation documents must
be made in writing. No telephone or FAX requests will be accepted.
This project is l00 percent set-aside for small business concerns. The
Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) is 1611 and the Small
Business Size Standard is $17.0 Million. For Minority, Women-Owned and
Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation
(DOT), Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU),
has programs to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged
business enterprises to acquire short-term working capital and bonding
assistance for transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to
any eligible prime or subcontractor at any tier. The Dot Bonding
Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and
payment bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80%
guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are also
available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime
interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum
