This is a special notice being issued by Westinghouse Savannah River Company (WSRC), management and operating contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy's Savannah River Site (SRS) near Aiken, South Carolina. The purpose of this notice is to determine public interest in the possible licensing of a technology called "Improved Air Sample/Monitor Box." The "Improved Air Sample/Monitor Box" provides a means of sample collection and continuous monitoring of potentially radioactive airborne particulates. The drawer and filter holder provide a unique means of delivery and retrieval of the filter from the sample flow stream. This invention provides efficient collection combined with ease of continuous or manual radiation monitoring. The design allows for ease of field repair. Anti in-leakage seals are in the form of two 'O' rings which are installed on a filter cartridge. The cartridge is designed to provide easy tool-less removal and replacement by field personnel. Respondents will be provided with a technical brief and instructions for preparing and submitting a business plan, an integral element of the licensing process. Responses to this notice must be received by February 16, 1998. Business plans must be submitted no later than March 16, 1998.
