SUPPORT: This synopsis is seeking to obtain the name and information
concerning potential contractors to support software enhancement and
maintenance of the Special Operations Forces MH-47E and MH-60K
helicopter integrated-cockpits. Those sources indicating interest
should have experience in four languages, ADA, C+, C++, and,
specifically, recent experience in writing and maintaining Jovial code.
In addition, working knowledge of MIL-STD-1750A and C mission
processors (MPs), specifically the APS-102A, and MIL-STD-1553 data bus
architecture. Currently an Allied Signal Remote Terminal Unit and
Display Processor are being used. Although not required at this time,
the contractor must possess knowledge and experience which would allow
them to provide suggestions on other mission processors that could
eventually replace the MPs previously mentioned. The contractor should
have knowledge of the foregoing components to include proposing how to
upgrade to either a windows based Jovial language, ADA, C+, or C++
along with suggested replacements for those components currently being
used. The contractor should also understand and propose how the code
will be compiled. ******In response to this synopsis we request that
interested sources provide the following: (1) A Rough Order of
Magnitude schedule and detailed list of tasks which must be
accomplished to transition from the existing post deployment software
support contract to a new contract with a different vendor -- to
include the support for the existing software load in the SOA aircraft
during the transition; (2) Identification of and a description of
current test facilities used to de-bug current code and support code
development; (3) Information concerning your firms experience with ADA,
C+, C++ and Jovial; (4) An overview of experience transitioning
software support from one firm to another; (5) An overview of
experience(s) transitioning from one application language to another.
Although the described effort is in support of Army aviation, any
contractor who can satisfy all of the areas identified above are
requested to identify themselves in writing to Linda Diedrich,
757-878-5223, x240, or Richard Cooney, x250, US Special Operations
Command, Aviation Applied Technology Directorate, Lee Blvd, Bldg 401,
Ft. Eustis, VA 23604-5577, fax 757-878-4199 or email
ldiedric@tapo.eustis.army.mil or rcooney@tapo.eustis.army.mil. All
responses relative to the above are requested no later than 27 February
