COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 28,1998 PSA#2020

ASSOCIATION OF OLD CROWS EW/IW MODELING AND SIMULATION (M&S) CONFERENCE The Association of Old Crows (AOC) will present an EW/IW Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Conference on February 24-25, 1998, in Orlando, Florida. The theme of this conference will be "Modeling and Simulation Technology and the credibility of EW and IW Analysis and Evaluation." The chairman is William Swart, Technical Director of the Joint C2W Center. The keynote speaker is Dr. Pat Sanders, Director, Directorate Test Systems Engineering and Evaluation, OSD. The conference will be unclassified. M&S is rapidly becoming the enabling technology for a host of initiatives, including the USAF Scientific Advisory Board's New World Vistas on information applications. This symposium will address the question: How is the electronic warfare/information warfare user community reacting to the implementation of that technology? The conference will further seek to raise user issues regarding implementation of the technology. You will hear about the Department of Defense overview, the high level architecture (HLA)master plan and the needs of the warfighter, then examine the basis of the architecture itself, what it is, what it's replacing (and/why), and what the plan is for transition from "legacy" models, and finally, how acquisition efforts are incorporating EW/IW. As the EW/IW community, we are anxious to hear about how JSIMS and JWARS are incorporating our "discipline." In addition to the arena of technology fidelity, we will examine where we are in capturing the all important human behavior element in such representations. Finally, we will hear user community vignettes from users in acquisition, operations/intelligence, testing, and training environments. A major address will also be given by Mr. Ken Mathiasmier, President, AOC, on "AOC -- The Transition from Electronic Warfare to Information Warfare." This is a must attend event for any military, civilian, or contractor personnel concerned with how the technology of modeling and simulation affects the credibility of EW analysis results. For further information, call the AOC's fax on demand service at (732) 885-6754 and request document #450 or call the AOC Convention Department at (703) 549-1600.
