24TH ENVIRONMENTAL SYMPOSIUM & EXHIBITION The National Defense Industrial Association in cooperation with the offices of the Under Secretary of Defense for Environmental Security and the Civil Engineer, HQs US Air Force will conduct the 24th Environmental Symposium and Exhibition on April 6-9, 1998 in the Tampa Convention Center, Tampa, Florida. The symposium theme "Smart Business Practices for Mission Readiness and Environmental Sustainability" reflects critical issues faced by the Department of Defense -- namely maintaining a sound environment while implementing "smart business practices" in an era of continuing downsizing and budget restrictions. Senior DoD and Service panelists will provide an update of the latest and future DoD/Service programs and anticipated funding levels with priorities identified for their expenditure. The symposium will also offer to attendees thirty one technical sessions focusing on methods, procedures and technologies designed to improve operations and reduce costs associated with the many facets of environmental management and technologies. The technical sessions will address issues such as: Environmental Technologies and Stewardship, Information Systems, Clean Air and Water Acts, Conservation, Life Cycle Cost/Privatization, NEPA, Modeling, ISO/14000, Training/Operations, P2, Cultural Resources, Remediation R&D, etc. Guest speakers include: The Honorable Jacques Gansler, Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Technology, Ms. Sherri W.
