Headquarters Standard Systems Center is conducting a request for information to seek qualified sources capable of providing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software products to replace the Distributed Print Workstation environment currently in place at approximately 186 locations throughout the world supporting the Air Force, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve. The current environment is: Unisys AP9246-7TX line printer, 80386 or 80486 or Pentium PC's running on-line print PC software, Local area network interface, Unisys 2200 Host with on-line print host software. The print files are downloaded from the 2200 host to the desktop computer, then printed to the line printer. COTS requirement: (1) Print software should run under Windows 3.1, Windows NT, Windows 95, and Novell. (2) Capability to auto-sort, be object linking and embedding (OLE) and dynamic data exchange (DDE) compliant, and be capable of downloading to a personal computer (PC) or UNIX database as needed. (3) Compatible with existing line printers and any Windows XX or Novell printer. The software should also be WINSOCK compatible, so it can be used with any WINSOCK compatible IP stack, or Novell IPX/SPX. (4) The client software must be easily installed and configured on the host (if applicable) and on the client. (5) The training requirements should be minimal. (6) The software must be year 2000 compliant, and (7) Software must be able to handle print files from multiple vendor Personal computer, client-server and mainframe platforms.***** (0027)
