The work consists of dredging approximately 10 million cubic yards of
"new work" material from widening and deepening the Houston Ship
Channel in Galveston Bay. Contractor will be required to construct
approximately 30,000 linear feet of earthen levees with stiff dredged
materials, and then fill with soft dredged materials to create
approximately 600 acres of marsh adjacent to Bolivar Peninsula.
Contractor will also be required to construct a bird island
approximately 8 acres in size located 20,000 feet from the channel and
10,000 feet from Bolivar Peninsula. Earthen levees and Bird island
will require erosion protection, including geotextiles, geotubes, and
riprap. The cost for one set of plans and specifications: Full Size:
$48.00; Half Size: $29.00 (Non-Refundable). Subcontracting goals for
the Galveston District are: 61.2% Small Business; 9.1% Small
Disadvantaged Business; and 4.5% Woman-Owned Small Business. Price
