The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, intends to procure, on a sole-source basis, from Davidson Jones Beers Construction Company, 3101 Industrial Drive, Raleigh, NC 27609, Demolition services. Davidson Jones Beers Construction Company is currently under contract to build a 44,000 square foot addition to the existing Youth Activities Center, to include renovation of the Gymnasium, and demolition of selected walls. As a result of structural defects discovered in the selected walls, it was determined that the building be demolished and rebuilt within the same footprint. The reconstruction will be completed by Davidson Jones Beers Construction Company. Awarding the work to another contractor will result in substantial duplication of cost to the Government with the resubmittal of Environmental Protection Plans, Quality Control Plans and Safety Plans, requirements the currentcontractor has already satisfied. It would seriously impact the progress of the construction of the Youth Activities Center Additions and Alteration project and would delay completion of the current project.
