EMV-1998-RQ-0013, maria.martin@fema.gov. The Federal Emergency
Management Agency is seeking prospective contractors to quote on the
following Project: EMV-1998-RQ-0013 is for Building 704 -- Window
Installation at the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Mount Weather
Emergency Assistance Center, 19844 Blue Ridge Mountain Road (State
Route 601), Bluemont, Virginia 20135, Clarke County. Building 704 is a
two-story rectangular structure measuring 28 feet wide by 180 feet
long with concrete block walls and a 2" exterior insulation and finish
system. The first story perimeter walls are 12-inch and the second
story perimeter walls are 8-inch. The interior walls are finished with
wood furring and gypsum board. The contract is a base contract which
includes six new casement windows on the east elevation and four new
casement windows on the west elevation. DEMOLITION WORK: Work includes,
exterior demolition of the existing 2" exterior insulation and finish
system on 3/4" plywood, with 2 x 4 framing @ 24" OC; and interior
demolition of 1/2" drywall on 2 x 4 framing @24" OC. Void between old
window locations and masonry contain fiber batt insulation, Kraft paper
face on room side between the existing 2 x 4 wood framing. Windows
shall be installed in existing 6' wide x 5' high openings which have
been previously covered. CONSTRUCTION WORK: New work shall include the
installation of ten (10) new thermally insulated casement windows
(4'-0" wide x 3'-4 13/16" long) with exterior perma-shield vinyl
finish, and custodial lock insect screen in selected locations on the
East and West sides of the building. The existing exterior insulation
and finish system shall be properly patched and finished to provide a
weather tight system. Interior drywall finish shall be restored to edge
of new window. Windows shall be vinyl-clad wood with screens and window
blinds. Complete window demolition/installation shall be performed in
one office at a time before any demolition work is started in the next
office. The building shall remain fully operation during the period of
construction. Prospective Contractors are required to possess a
Virginia Contractor's License. The period of performance is 100
calendar days. Estimated construction price range is between $25,000
and $100,000. EMV-1998-RQ-0013 will be issued O/A February 13, 1998,
with a receipt date of quotes 30 days after issuance of Request for
Quotations. Pre-Bid conference and site visit will be scheduled with
specific date and time to be provided in the Request for Quotations.
EMV-1998-RQ-0013 will be available upon receipt of a written request to
the above address Attn: Mar a L. Martin and a $25.00 deposit
(non-refundable) for each set with checks to be made payable to the US
Treasurer. This RFQ is 100% small-business set aside. The SIC Code is
