To provide long life, the wires must be manufactured from material resistant to corrosion when subject to air or water of the Mississippi River, whether alone on in contact with galvanized or ungalvanized steel, copper, concrete, wood or other debris, or earth. The straight wires shall be bimetallic, composed of a steel core and a commercially pure copper coating, or stainless steel with a copper plating or coating. The wire diameter shall be No. 8 American Wire Gage (0.1285-inch) including the copper coating, plus or minus 0.0020 inch. The thickness of the copper coating for bimetallic wire shall be not less than 0.006 inch. If the core metal meets the criteria of stainless steel alloys AISI 201, AISI 301, AISI 302, AISI 304, Armco Nitronic 32 (UNS-S24100), or Carpenter stainless 18Cr-2ni-12Mn (UNS-S24100), a continuous uniform plating or coating of copper with a minimum average thickness of 0.00005 inch will be required. The wires shall be straight pieces 13-1/2 inches long, plus or minus 1/8 inch. Destination for deliveries is: Mat Sinking Section, US Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District, Supply and Maintenance Management Branch, 2449 Haning Road, Vicksburg, MS 39180. The contractor shall make delivery of all supplies by 1 Jun 98. Duration of the contract period is approximately 77 days.
