842-6757 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is
conducting market research to evaluate whether commercial sources are
available to meet the Government's needs for procurement of services to
receipt, store, reproduce and distribute publications and to perform
feasibility studies related to the services. These services include but
are not limited to furnishing personnel, and to the extent not provided
by the Government, equipment, and supplies necessary to receive,
account for, store, and distribute to addressees whose names and
addresses are provided by the Government or are included on mailing
lists maintained for CDC organizations, a variety of administrative,
technical and/or scientific publications, issuances, notices,
periodicals, manuals, text references and other similar information
materials produced by or in support of CDC programs and to provide
feasibility studies to incorporate changing technology related to the
services. The Government proposes to provide space in a leased facility
consisting of approximately 24,000 square feet of warehouse space and
1,800 square feet of office space. The responses to this market
research/sources sought shall address the applicability of Federal
Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items.
Sources whose service meets the definition of a Commercial Service in
FAR 2.101 are invited to provide the following information: customary
practices regarding customizing, modifying or tailoring of services to
meet customer needs and associated costs; customary practices,
including warranty, buyer financing, discounts, etc. under which
commercial sales of the services are made; the requirements of any laws
and regulations unique to the services being acquired; size and status,
i.e., small or large business, small disadvantaged or woman owned (SIC
8744 size standard $5 million); customary practices regarding quality
assurance procedures; available literature and any other terms and
conditions or commercial practice for this type of acquisition in the
commercial market. The Government is contemplating soliciting for
publications distribution services at CDC, Chamblee, Georgia. The
resultant contract period is expected to be one base year with four
option years. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the
basis of this notification or otherwise pay for any information or
inquiry. This synopsis does not constitute a request for proposal, and
is not considered to be a commitment by the Government. All
