R -- PERFORMANCE MEASURES FOR MEDICATION MANAGEMENT POC Dawn L. Tucker 410-786-5162 The Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) intends to contract on a sole-source basis with the Joint Commission on Accreditation (JCAHO), One Renaissance Boulevard, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, 60181 for the purchase of services to coordinate and provide staff support for the development of a set of performance measures for medication management. JCAHO will coordinate the efforts of their staff, HCFA and the Coalition for Quality in Medication Use, to develop consensus around a key set of medication management performance measures that each of these groups will adapt. In addition to the Coalition, a technical Panel of experts in performance management and medications management will be convened to review existing medication measures and propose additional measures to assess the important processes and outcomes of medication management. The measures will be standardized and implementable in both managed care and fee-for-service settings, and relevant to the information needs of health care providers, consumers, and purchasers. Potential sources may identify their interest and capability in response to the above requirements by submitting clear and convincing documentation that fully defines their capability to meet the established requirements. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, interest expressed within 15 calendar days of publication of this notice will be considered by the Government. A determination not to compete this contract based on responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of HCFA. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
