Z -- ROWAN BAY LOG TRANSFER FACILITY RECONSTRUCTION, STIKINE AREA SOL IFB R10-98-06 DUE 032398 POC Lisa Peterson or Eric Meyer, (907) 586-8880 This project removes the existing railcar bulkhead at the Rowan Bay Log Transfer Facility (LTF); salvages embankment material from behind the existing bulkhead; fabricates and constructs a circular cellular steel sheet pile bulkhead, with a steel and extruded rubber fender system; fabricates and installs two deadman anchor barge mooring anchors, including mooring chain and steel spherical floats; raises and widens existing bulkhead approach road causeway and slide ramp to new final grade, and constructs drainage features, including roadway perimeter berms and a earthen dike to create a settling basin for surface runoff treatment. Settling basin dike will include a geotextiles liner and outlet pipe. Embankment material salvaged during removal of the existing structure will be incorporated to the maximum extent possible in the new construction. The work site is located at the Rowan Bay LTF, located along the northern shore of Rowan Bay, on the western side of Kuiu Island, approximately 35 air miles west of Petersburg, Alaska. The project site is accessible by float plane or boat from Petersburg.
