Contract Specialist, (703) 492-3329 Market Research: The Direct
Reporting Program Manager (DRPM) for the Marine Corps Advanced
Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAAV) is conducting market research to
determine the commercial availability of 30mm X 173mm Armor Piercing
Fin Stabilized Discarding Sabot, Traced (APFSDS-T) ammunition for the
AAAV. The ammunition must be in production and available for delivery
by January 1999. The ammunition must be capable of being used with the
Bushmaster II 30mm Automatic Cannon and Bushmaster II link. It must be
capable of penetrating current BMP family of vehicles at 1500 meters
and use an environmentally safe penetrator. It must have an accuracy of
0.4 milliradians (one standard deviation in each axis) at temperatures
ranging from -32 to 52 degrees Celsius when fired single shot from a
Mann barrel or single shot to 200 shots per minute from a Bushmaster II
. The ammunition must be suitable for naval applications and meet
safety requirements needed for U.S. Navy Weapon System Explosives
Safety Review Board (WSESRB) certification. The round must be capable
of operating in a Bushmaster II nitrided barrel with a full gain twist
from 0 to 7 and also in a Bushmaster II chrome barrel with an
intermediate gain twist from 3.5 to 7.5. Additional Information is
