703-784-5822, x246 Marine Corps Systems Command intends to negotiate on
a sole source basis with Ericsson Inc., Lynchburg, Va. 24502, for
engineer consulting services and purchase of radio equipment to support
a digital multisite trunked radio system for the Marine Corps
Warfighting Lab (MCWL). The radio equipment will consist of Ericsson
products that have been repackaged to meet MCWL manpacked and portable
system requriements. The Ericsson Enhanced Digital Access
Communication System (EDACS) will be deployed both in a land mobile
configuration, and aboard US Naval Amphibious Ships. As part of their
participation in previous MCWL advance technology experimentation,
components of the Ericsson Radio System have undergone expensive
qualification and saftey testing, and have been approved for
installation on specific military combat vehicles and amphibious ships.
The compatibility of Ericssons Radio System with the unique Marine
Corps Warfighting Lab method of data distribution (to include message
formats, network protocol and interoperability with portable tactical
radios) have been proven in numerous field experiments with currentluy
owned equipment. All responsible sources solicited may submit a bid,
proposal, or quotation which shall be considered. Authority: 10 U.S.C.
2304(C)(1), Justification: Supplies (or Services) required are
available from only one or a limited number of responsible source(s)
and no other type of supplies or services will satisfy agency
requirements. The proposed contract action is for supplies and services
for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one
source under the authority of FAR 6.3. This notice of intent is not a
request for competitive proposals. However, all proposal received
within fifteen (15 days) after the date of publication of this synopsis
will be considered by the Government. A Determination by the Government
not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this
notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information
receivedwill normally be considered solely for the purpose of
determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. See Numbered
