Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) plans to Sole Source a purchase
requirement for Coaxial Switch Assemblies with JAY-EL/DMT of Carson,
California. This company helped develop and design these switches. If
you have a product which meets or exceeds the JAY-EL specifications,
please submit your literature to NOAA for their review. The
specifications are as follows: (1) Operating Frequency: 400-500MHz; (2)
V.S.W.R. (maximum): 1.20:1; (3) Insertion loss (max.): RF to Array 2:
0.2dB; RF to Array 1: 0.3dB; RF to Array 1 (via delay line): 0.45dB
(doesn't include delay line loss); (4) Isolation (minimum): 35dB; (5)
Actuating Voltage: 28 volts more/less 2 volts; (6) Actuating Current
(max.): 225 mA each coll; (7) Impedance: 50 ohms nominal; (8) Switching
Time (max.): 30 ms to any position; (9) RF Power handling: 440 Watts
average, 2.5 kW peak into max V.S.W.R = 1.85:1, 3.3 kW peak into max
V.S.W.R = 1.25:1; (10) Operating Mode: Failsafe with indicators (for
energized states only), suppression diodes (-5v or less) break before
make, cold switched; (11) Operating temperature: -40 degrees Fahrenheit
to +122 degrees Fahrenheit; (12) Phase repeatability: more or less 2
degrees unit to unit same path; (13) Operating Life: 2,000,000 cycles
or 2 years service life (lifetime degradation not to exceed twice
specified insertion loss nor a V.S.W.R of 1.2:1) indicators 50 mA
maximum; (14) Finish: Switch body: aluminum, electroless nickel plated
per MIL-C-26074, Connector contact: Beryllium copper, gold plated per
MIL-G-45204, Cover: aluminum, black. No RFQ package will be made
