of Prisons intends to award a Non-Personal service contract for
Orthopedic Services. Duties are to be performed at the Federal
Correctional Institution, Cumberland, Maryland. The contractor will be
responsible for the following: Study, diagnose, and treat medical
disorders in the area of orthopedic disorders, organize and record data
concerning patient, family, personal, medical, and mental history,
determine onset of symptoms obtained from patients and other sources to
determine type of treatment needed, order laboratory and other special
diagnostic tests and evaluate data obtained, determine nature and
extent of orthopedic disorders and formulate a treatment program,
review medical records and treatments initiated by the physician
assistants and nurse practitioners, provide follow up care to inmates
who have had orthopedic surgery in the community hospital, provide
quality documentation and activities for patients treated. Due to the
nature of this contract, all individuals workingwithin the institution
will be required to submit to Security Clearances. This will be a
competitive procurement with award being made to the offeror determined
to be in the best interest of the government, price and price related
factors considered. Services will be required during the normal work
week, an estimated two (2) sessions per month (1 session = 4 hours),
for an estimated twenty-four (24) sessions per year. The base year of
the contract shall run for twelve (12) months from the date of award
with four (4) one year option periods for renewal with an anticipated
award date of October 1, 1998. it is anticipated that the solicitations
will be mailed approximately March 3, 1998 with an approximate due date
of April 30, 1998. It is anticipated that this solicitation will result
in a Firm-Fixed Price Requirements Type Contract. This solicitation is
100% set-aside for small business concerns. All responsible sources
may submit a bid which will be considered for award. Requests for
