http://www.mbta.com. Rehabilitation of 15kV AC Switchgear, Rectifier
Transformers 1&2, Rectifiers 1&2, DC Switchgear line-ups 1&2, Negative
Bus and Drainage Board, 1000kV double ended Unit Substation and Motor
Control Center, replacement of SCADA System and replacement and/or
rehablitation of the auxiliary equipment. The work in the tunnel area
consists of testing and replacement of dc traction power cables,
wayside switches and other equipment related to the cable distribution
system. All of this work relates to correcting the damage caoused by
the flood of October 1996 and restoring the substation and cable
distribution system to operating condition. This project is subject to
a financial assistance Contract between the MBTA and the Federal
Emergency Management Agency(FEMA). The Authority will conduct site
tours starting from February 17 and ending on February 19, 1998. Three
separate inspection tours will be conducted pertaining to the
restoration of the cable distribution system. Each tour will focus on
aseparate and distinct portion of the scope of work. These three
inspection tours are scheduled for Tuesday February 17, Wednesday
February 18 and Thursday February 19, 1998 begining promplty at 1:00
A.M. (0100 hours). Bidders' representives shall meet at the passenger
bus stop shelter at Kenmore Station. In addition a separate inspection
tour of Kenmore Substation is scheduled for Thursday February 19
starting at 10 A.M.(1000 hours) form the same location. Bidders are
advised that they shall have representation at all four inspection
tours as no extra visits are planned. A prebid conference will be held
on February 20, 1998 at 9:00 A.M. at the office of the Senior Project
Manager, Mr. Joseph G. Lally, Power Systems Improvements Project
Office, located in a brown trailer at 278 Dorchester Avenue, South
Boston, MA 02127 (phone (617) 222-4145). Any request for interpretation
of the Plans and Specifications should be submitted in writing at the
